Dokra, originally 'Dhokra', is an almost 3500-year-old art form. It is the oldest known form of metal casting through the ‘lost wax’ technique, practised by the Dokra Damar Tribe. This ethnic community of metalsmiths have kept their art alive through generations and given it their name. The members of this community are scattered extensively throughout West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Telangana
